Lot: 28     Fr. 196    KL393    $10    Chittenden-Spinner    Face and Back Proof

This two-piece lot was offered in a Stacks sale (Lot 1022 & 1023) where they were described as: "Act of March 3, 1863 One Year Treasury Note. India paper face proof essay by the American Banknote Company. Full green protector across the face, but no dark background for the ABN imprint as used on the issued notes. Plate B. Type of Friedberg 196; Type of Hessler IE 13/14. Close to Gem, there are some petty tears near the left punch hole but no pieces missing". "India paper color back proof by the American Banknote Company. Hessler 196/196. Choice, but a bit unevenly trimmed but not disturbing the design elements. There are two back mounting hinges. Very rare. This back proof design was not present in the Glenn Jackson or Rasmussen holdings. Theoretically at least three other back proofs should exist from the sheet this was cut from".
